What We Do

Family Promise of the Black Hills is dedicated to helping homeless families achieve and sustain independence through a community-based response. Families come to us in crisis; we help them rebuild their lives with new skills and ongoing support. We provide a holistic approach to addressing family homelessness by offering prevention services, advocacy, mentoring, life-skills learning and support services. Additionally we are closing a gap in area services by  developing a Rotational Temporary Housing Network for those who are homeless with stabilization programs once they have secured housing. Our goal is to empower families to achieve economic stability and long-term self-sufficiency.

Homeless Prevention

Preventing families from becoming homeless in the first place with wrap-around services.

Temporary Housing

Our upcoming Rotational Temporary Housing Network will be based on the hospitality network that is the foundation of the Family Promise model.

Graduate Support Services

Helping the families we serve not only succeed today but remain stable in their housing, financial capability and career paths tomorrow.

Community Initiatives

Family Promise of the Black Hills understands the needs of vulnerable families. So, we offer innovative programs – such as tenancy preparation, financial literacy, and virtual career pathway training - to address them in a cost-effective, targeted approach.
